So for this assignment I used Premiere Pro again, going back to one of my old assignments (the color one) and I added/changed some things up a bit. To start, I went into the transform settings of the text and made it slide onto the screen as it gets bigger. I also added another red image that fades in and out of opacity for a bit into the video.
One struggle that I had was that it kept not exporting right, being only one second and not actually a video, but thanks to Mr. B's confusion and then help, I figured out that I actually needed to select the whole video during the export video. Another problem was apparently sizing the image, but it turned out that it was just too big so I couldn't see the edges. I fixed this by going into the edit menu for it and turning the size down. My favorite part of the assignment was figuring out the transform/editing part. I'll definitely be able to use this setting later, especially in the MP assignment, so I'm excited to experiment more with stuff like this, especially more with the opacity in more exciting ways.

For this assignment I used Premiere Pro. I started out by choosing the clips that I wanted to use. Then I decided how I wanted the joke to be executed and made sure the "transitions" were smooth and worked well with the video. I added a "sad" sound as part of the joke because he hates the joke.
A problem I ran into was that I kept forgetting my headphones, so I didn't know what it sounded like. To fix this, I listened at home and planned to bring in my headphones later (not today but still) I also struggled a bit finding a sound, because I'm not the biggest fan of Bensounds but I ended up choosing a pretty stereotypically sad one so I think it worked out. In the end my favorite part was putting together the clips and choosing how I wanted them to work. I definitely resonate deeply with the guy in white because I don't like the joke. This activity was a bit more simple, so there's definitely not as much to talk about.
For this activity I used Premiere Pro. I started by downloading all the videos and importing them into the app. After that, I decided which clips I wanted to use and put them together in a way that made sense. After that, I added some transitions and then downloaded a sound I (somewhat) felt worked.
One problem I ran into was that I found it kind of hard to make it perfectly smooth. I tried my best to make the clips work together in a way that made sense, but it didn't always work. For this, I just kept adjusting until I liked it, and ended up with a pretty good result. Another thing I struggled with was sound, but that's not something I really want to speak about. :( My favorite part of this assignment was seeing the end result and seeing how well some of the transitions turned out. I felt as though some of them went together very well, and I ended up being pretty happy with the assignment. Also, just putting the videos together was kind of relaxing, in some kind of way. This drawing is called Pinterest Girl for pretty obvious reasons. This is a drawing from when I was getting back into Pinterest and feeling pretty inspired to draw. I have a board just for art references and I chose randomly and started drawing. This ended up being one of the best portraits I think I've ever drawn even though some of the facial proportions are a bit wonky, I still love it. Reference image and Pinterest user shown below.
For this drawing outside of class I drew based on a game I play. The game is called Red Dead Redemption 2, and it's pretty violent which I only play sometimes. Majorly, I play the game to enjoy the graphics, mess around with NPCs, and get horses. For this I decided to go back into one of the many alleyways in Saint Denis (one of the cities) and just draw. I really enjoyed how much nature was back in these alleyways so I decided to draw it. It was also to practice perspective drawing, which is still something I struggle with.
PRE PRODUCTION: I selected my fairytale because it was my favorite growing up and it was the one I knew the most about. I knew the Grimm version and everything. I altered it not much. Especially because my animation turned out to be pretty not a story, I made it more modern and more rich family heirloom type instead of princess type. I decided to make Rapunzel not have as long of hair because it wouldn't make sense since there's no magic involved. For my storyboard there was a lot more there then ended up in my animation, but I decided to have her sneak out on her own instead.
PRODUCTION: I decided to go with Adobe Animate. I went with it because I thought it would be the most simple and it would look great at the end. One of the major difficulties I encountered was that when I started drawing my character, I really wanted her to be detailed but I ended up having to make her not as detailed. I made her using mostly shapes as reference and pretty similar to the policeman.
POST PRODUCTION: I started off by making a background. After that, I started working on my character by making all the different parts in different areas, then making them into symbols for later. Then, I went into a movie symbol, put in all the character symbols and animated the character walking, just like with the policeman. After that, I went back into the main scene and used motion tweens to move my character across, which ended up being what I ended with. I know it has literally no story, but I tried making it so she seems stressed, and there's a crown (family heirloom) on the couch.
CAR ANIMATION
POLICE ANIMATION FIREFLY ANIMATION To start all of these animations off, I made the backgrounds. I mainly based them off of the ones in the tutorial, adding personal choices that I'll talk about later. After that, I added some extra stuff to the background (ex. the stars in the last animation) using tweens and symbols. Then, I moved on to making the symbols of the moving objects such as the car, the police officer, and the firefly. I went into the symbol, animated the object using motion tweens and then put them in and made a motion tween to move it across. Some design choices I made- honestly there weren't many because I copied the tutorials pretty precisely, but mostly color-wise. For example, in the firefly animation I toned down the colors a bit to make it a bit more night-like and more calming. Also not a design choice, but I though the police officers shirt was supposed to change colors so that was a mistake I made. I ran into some problems for all three. In the animation challenge, I made the wheels turn the wrong way. I was honestly a bit confused. For the policeman, I struggled with just finishing it. I thought it would be harder than it actually was but it ended up being simpler than I thought. For the firefly, I didn't size the trees correctly so that I would have more sky space, so I ended up having to make the stars in places that were harder to see. For this assignment I used tweens. I started by putting in the text and changing the color every 30 frames. (I added frames by clicking where I wanted it and going into modify convert to keyframe). Then, I added the star and used tweens and keyframes again. I also made it so that it spins around. After that, I added in a bug and using this other type of frame that turns gold I made it move. After, I put in shapes then deleted them every thirty frames and used shape tweens to make them transform.
Design choices was honestly just colors. At the start I was trying to go for more yellows but then I kinda just changed to whatever because I realized I'd be using a lot. And for the fly I was kinda just lazy. I didn't change its color at all and just made it black and gray like it would be in real life. Some problems I had was that at frame 120, I thought I had to duplicate the whole thing when I really just needed to duplicate the first one. This went on for awhile so that was basically a waste of my time. Then another thing was I spent a lot of time trying to make the fly go in a loop, which obviously wasn't successful. Also choosing colors was kinda rough at the start. For this assignment I first put in the sky and the ground, so that my ball had something to bounce off of. Then I created I think 5 or 6 big ovals to show the path of the ball. After that I duplicated a circle over and over, changing the shape when it was about to hit the ground, at the top, and all the in between. After I had all the layers, I put them in order and then opened the timeline. I then shortened how long they would stay on screen and then put them in order. After that I downloaded it as an MP4 and a GIF so I could put it on this blog post.
Honestly, there isn't that many "design choices" in this. I guess the font could be considered, but I didn't put any thought into that. One design choice I did make was deciding to keep the ball black and white. I saw a lot of other people making it different colors, but I just decided to keep mine white. The part I struggled with the most was just making the ball over and over. It was very repetitive and boring for awhile, especially after I realized the ball had to go off screen. Although, after awhile it became much faster and easier to do. After that it was just putting the animation together and putting the layers in the correct order. For this assignment I used Photoshop to draw in these sacks of flour. I ended up drawing 8 of them to get the full credit. What I decided to do was basically just draw these sacks of flour based on what these words meant/what I thought of when I heard it.
For design choices I tried to make my sacks of flour have some character. I didn't really put too much detail into them other than the solid drawing one. Lastly, some problems I had was finding ways to draw some of the principles. One I really struggled with was appeal. I didn't know how to draw it in the way it wanted me to so I just ended up drawing a character design that I thought would be "appealing" (it's a cute small and confident character, a lot of people would probably like a character like that.) |
